Outlook Split Personality is simple to install. It works in Outlook XP through to Outlook 2007 (not Outlook 2000) on Windows systems (not Macintosh). It does NOT work on Outlook Express.
Once it is installed, you'll see a new set of email options in your ribbon area when you open or create a mail item (or you'll see a toolbar for Outlook XP or 2003). The 'Send with Personality' button replaces your normal 'Send' button. You'll still have access to your original send button, but you'll quickly find yourself using the Send with Personality button instead.
When you click on this button, it will show you a list of your 'Personalities'. You just click on the one you want, and your email is sent with the properties you have defined in that personality.
The properties available that you can change are:
- From Address
- Reply-To Address
- Signature to add to the bottom of the email
Your email is then changed according to the personality you have chosen and sent accordingly. The recipient of the email sees what you want it to look like in their Inbox.
Its that simple. Creating the Personalities is done within Outlook through the Options menu item.
You use the same familiar options that you use to tell Outlook how to behave. However when you open it up you'll see an extra tab item for Outlook Split Personality.
When you select this Tab menu, you'll see the personality setup page. This is where you create new personalities or edit existing ones.
You can create an unlimited number of personalities to use. Each will automatically show up in the Send with Personality button window that comes up when you send your emails.
Each email you send with personality will have the properties changed for it according to your settings in the Options.
No problems with Spam Filtering
In a world filled with spam emails, recipient email servers are very adept at recognizing that an email being sent under one name isn't coming from a mail server associated with that name. This is the key reason why there is so much complexity required to setup multiple Outlook Email Accounts.
Outlook Split Personality addresses this by using techniques to modify the properties of an email but still let's it be sent through mail servers that may not be associated with the domain of the email personality. Your end result is that mail sent through Outlook Split Personality won't be lost or rejected by a recipient spam mail filter.
Compatibility
Outlook Split Personality is compatible with Windows Outlook systems only. It is not compatible with any version of Outlook Express (ie. requires the full Outlook to work).
Outlook Split Personality has been tested and verified for the following Outlook versions on Windows XP & Vista:
- Outlook XP
- Outlook 2003
- Outlook 2007
Our experience has shown that it works best on Outlook 2007, however you should have no problems running on the other versions of Outlook above as long as you have unchecked to use Word as the email editor for emails.
